The Horsehead Nebula Region
CCD Image with False Color
This CCD image was taken with an SBIG ST8E camera
with a H-alpha filter. It is the combination of nine, 10-minute exposures.
The images were processed using MaxIm DL and Photoshop. My friend
Ray Gralak provided critical help and advice with the processing.
The image is approximately 10 light years across
and 8 light years high.
The image was taken from Hidden Valley Observatory,
on my property in Soquel, overlooking the Monterey Bay in California.
It was shot through an AP 5" f/6.
